Art History Minor

 A minor in Art History examines the artistic traditions of a broad range of periods and places, the full spectrum of visual media, and the theories and methodologies that art historians use to study and interpret works of art within complex contexts. The minor is designed for flexibility and to complement a student’s interests and their study pursued in other disciplines. 

Degree Requirements

A minor in Art History requires a minimum of five (5) course credits, as follows.  Students must complete the minor with a grade of C or higher in each of the five required courses.

Required Distribution Courses

Three (3) additional distribution courses chosen from the following, at least two (2) of which must be at the 200 level or higher. At least one (1) of the distributive courses must focus on art from cultures other than the Western tradition, chosen from: ARH 130, ARH 210, ARH 239, ARH/AST 249. ARH special topics courses (286/386/486) with appropriate topics could also be taken to satisfy this aspect of the distributive requirements. No more than two (2) courses can be transferred in to meet the requirement.
