WGS 243 Women in Art (ARH)

Prerequisite: GSTR 210

A study of women in the visual arts from antiquity to the present. Course considers the role of women as artists, patrons, and subjects. Other themes addressed include the cultural construction of beauty and sexuality, the gaze (both male and female), and the role of race and colonialism in figural art. Arts Perspective and African Americans', Appalachians' and Women's Perspective.
