NUR 400 Adult Health Nursing II

Prerequisites: NUR 350 and NUR 355 with a C or better

This is the second of two adult health nursing courses. The course is designed to assist students in gaining the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to meet the healthcare needs of critically ill adults and geriatric patients experiencing alterations in health. Physiological body systems are used as the organizing structure for the course. Emphasis is placed on the use of the nursing process to guide clinical reasoning for the provision of safe patient centered nursing care in accordance with standards and competencies of professional nursing practice. The clinical component provides the opportunity for students to enhance clinical reasoning, interprofessional communication, and collaboration with a health care team providing care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients. Additional clinical learning includes simulation experiences. This course includes five hours of didactic/classroom experience each week and 84 hours of clinical experience per term.
