BIO 201P A&P I Peer-Assisted Learning

This course is designed to create a non-intimidating learning environment where students enrolled in BIO 201 have the opportunity to collaboratively learn how to master the challenging content covered in A&P I. PAL sessions are facilitated by near peers who have successfully completed BIO 201 or an equivalent course. PAL sessions are designed to help students practice effective learning strategies for both rote memorization of facts and for engaging material more deeply so that students can learn to apply the facts they are learning. PAL sessions foster a sense of community and belonging where students are encouraged and expected to ask questions and where mistakes become learning opportunities rather than judgements of intelligence. Ultimately, the goal of this course is to increase student success in A&P I. Course meets twice a week for 70 min.
