HLT 200 Foundations of Health Studies

Prerequisites: GSTR 110 and WELL 101

HLT 200 is an introductory and integrative course that provides a foundational understanding of significant health issues, their risk factors, and major theoretical frameworks and models used in the field of health promotion and public health. Students successfully completing this course will be able to identify and analyze the impact of important public health issues on everyday life situations. This course will provide students with an experience that assists them in identifying the interrelationships between physical, social, and cultural forces in the etiology of disease and the ensuing practices of public health and disease prevention. Students will also be introduced to health studies, including health promotion, health education, and public health.
