GST 280 Tutoring/Writing Pedagogy

Prerequisites: Instructor Approval

This course is an introduction to the theories and practices that comprise effective peer tutoring of writing. Students will learn basic techniques for supporting college-level writers while engaging with critical research on teaching and learning. The course underscores principles of successful communication, paying special attention to the diverse learner identities peer tutors commonly encounter. Students will have multiple opportunities to view their instructional experiences from a variety of perspectives, synthesizing scholarship with lived experience in a sequence of reflective assignments. The only pre-requisite is permission of the instructor(s). There are no course fees. Students cannot take this course more than once for credit.
