GEO 101 Intro Geology: Way Earth Works

Prerequisite: MAT 010

From volcanoes and earthquakes to glaciers and oceans, our planet is fascinatingly complex. This course will provide an overview of topics in the Earth Sciences, focusing on the processes and properties that shape our planet and allow life as we know it to thrive. Topics will include plate tectonics, gneous/metamorphic/sedimentary rocks, deep time, energy/mineral resources, and the hydrosphere. Emphasis will be put on the relevance of Earth Science to humanity and the ways in which we co-exist with our planet, for better or worse. This course will meet for three hours of lecture per week, with an additional three-hour lab session each week. Natural Science Laboratory Course.
