HLT 400 Epidemiology

Prerequisites: MAT 104 or other statistics course approved by instructor

This course will provide an overview of the basic epidemiological principles, concepts, methods, and applications. The course is divided into three sections. The first section covers history, and quantitative measures of disease frequency, association, and effects. The second section covers types of epidemiological study designs, and the third and final section covers practical application of epidemiological principles to screening communicable and non-communicable diseases. Emphasis will be on disease prevention and the role of health education in reducing risk factors and improving health.
