Start your journey by meeting with a Career Development Staff member to explore and set your career development goals.Attend ICD events to learn of internship & career development opportunities. To maximize your Berea career development experience, we encourage you to focus on 3 key areas of your personal and professional progress - Articulation, Discernment and NavigationHere’s what we mean when we use these terms and steps to take in the months ahead:

Articulation - Express your potential fluently and coherently
Discover your meaningful themes related to your career goals and articulate your purpose, motivation, mission, and passion in an exciting and impactful way. Create and refine your Berea story and create targeted career documents for your next step.

  • Work with Career Development Staff to create a mind map and utilize career assessments to discover your“meaningful themes” – your strengths/skills, interests, values, and personality preferences

  • Develop your career documents with our resume/cv/cover letter writing resources on BeyondBerea.org

  • Create a LinkedIn profile to actively network with alumni

  • Participate in a mock interview with Career Development Staff

 

Juniors & Seniors Funding:

  • Build your professional presence by using Career Development Funding to Dress for Success

  • Maximize the opportunities to network – join a professional organization paid for by Career Development

  • Considering Graduate or Professional School? Get organized for applying to grad school by taking our

    Graduate & Professional School Prep Course and accessing Career Development Funding Resources to cover expenses for grad school exams, applications, and campus visits

Discernment – Find major/career possibilities that fit with your goals and dreams
As you clarify the skills you excel at and love to do, work with Career Development Staff to help you creatively envision major/career possibilities that fit you best. To develop your confidence and confirm your career path, make intentional choices about how you want to gain experience.

  • Join a Career Community on BeyondBerea.org and let us help you as you research career possibilities that interest you through a wide range of helpful career resources

  • Be strategic in utilizing your meaningful themes and work with Career Development Staff to identify and apply for significant practical experiences for summer – Internships, Service Opportunities, Undergraduate Research and Study Abroad. Don’t miss out on ways to try out your career possibilities!

  • Participate in the exciting options of extracurricular programs on Berea’s campus, (athletics, student government, residence life, student ministries or missions, community service, clubs, the arts/theater and more). Student organizations and volunteer opportunities are a great way to explore and solidify your interests.
